Business Overview:
This is an asset sale of an IP (Intellectual Property) portfolio comprising 5 issued U.S. patents and 1 pending U.S. application which covers a variety of novel faucet systems. The portfolio covers several touchless faucet designs and methods of use that includes an additional spout integrated into the faucet’s neck. This second spout, positioned a sufficient distance away from the main waterspout, provides several advantages, including: a space-saving configuration, streamlines hand washing process, reduces accidents, includes water & energy saving options, provides additional assistance for the disabled, etc. The additional spout can be configured to dispense virtually any fluid, including: liquid soap, foam soap, shampoo, hand sanitizer, filtered water, etc.
Also covered are a variety of novel touchless methods for activating the second spout, the main spout, given a specific configuration. Spout activation sensors range from simple single proximity type sensors to dual break-beam sensor systems capable of deciphering hand movement direction. The technology empowers a user extraordinary control over a wide variety faucet parameters, including the type of fluid to be dispensed–which spout to use, flow rate, desired temperature, and so forth.
The portfolio covers a wide range of faucet systems, from a simple system, where the user merely engages a single sensor to initiate a soap delivery, to an automated delivery system where the engagement of one sensor activates an automated process that guides the user through a series of predetermined steps. For example, 5 seconds of low-flow water from the waterspout (enabling the user to wet hands), followed by a few seconds of soap delivery from the second spout, a process pause (allowing the user to lather soap with hands), ending with several seconds of full-flow water flowing from main waterspout (providing a final rinse).
